Tutorial 2
With
this tutorial I thought it might be good if we had a scroll design that
could be transferred and cut. I have drawn the outlines of a design in
Coreldraw. This is the same scroll engraving ink print that you should
have received with your AirGraver. It would be good to study that ink
print while you are cutting it on your own practice plate.
I will also
cut it while video taping, and include the videos and pictures on this
page. In the tutorials following this, I thought we could start working on
cutting out background within this design and, then later, shading it.
Here is
the
link to the drawing. It is in Coreldraw format. It was exported in
version 5, so any version newer should be able to open it. Some other
drawing programs may also be able to import Coreldraw files. To save this
file to your hard disk right click on the link and choose "save target
as". If you don't have a program that will open it, drop me an email and
let me know what drawing programs you have and I will try to export it to
that format and email it to you.
The cuts are all similar to what you learned in the Tutorial 1. Transfer
it to a practice plate and give it a try. In the Coreldraw file, the top
image is the correct one. The ones below I show mirroring the design to
see what can be done with it. Feel free to cut those too if you like, and
mirror, rotate, and resize things to see what interesting ideas can be
developed with it.
Okay.. Now I need to get busy and cut it myself
and record it for this page.
